What is Geocaching?
Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for GPS users. Participating in a cache hunt is not only a good way to utilize all the features and capabilites of a GPS unit but is also a great way to explore beautiful locales that might not otherwise be explored.
The basic idea is to have individuals and organizations set up caches all over the world and share the locations of these caches on the internet. GPS users can then use the location coordinates to find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All the visitor is asked to do is if they get something they should try to leave something for the cache.

Schuyler County is home to several geocaching sites. Caches are located in areas with striking views or areas that require a beautiful and fulfilling hike. Some may be more difficult to find than others but what could be more satisfying than spending time with friends and loved ones and having an adventure?! Especially if the adventure takes place in a hometown you've never really explored and seen its true beauty.
Listed here are just a few hidden caches in Schuyler County (these are actually within 3 miles of Watkins Glen!!):
The Black Spot
The Ramshackle Chalet

As of May 8, 2008 there are:
*49 caches within 10 miles of Watkins Glen
